Fitchburg Seamless Gutters, Guards & Repair

Fitchburg seamless gutters have to deal with something most suburban homes do not: roofs that drain onto other roofs. When an addition sits lower than the main house, the upper roof discharges onto the lower one, and where that water goes next is a design question that a lot of additions never answered.

Local conditions

Why Fitchburg gutters fail

Additions and shallow pitches create drainage problems that a straightforward suburban roof never has.

Roof onto roof

The addition problem

When the main roof discharges onto a lower addition roof, that water arrives with force and volume in one concentrated spot. Without a gutter or a diverter on the upper roof it strips granules off the lower one and shortens its life by years. It is one of the most common things we find here and one of the cheapest to fix.

Kickout flashing

The missing piece

Where a roof edge meets a wall, a kickout flashing diverts water into the gutter instead of behind the siding. It is a small bent piece of metal and it is missing on a large share of additions. When it is absent, water runs into the wall cavity for years before anyone notices.

Shallow pitch

Slow water

On the 1970s stock with shallow roofs, water arrives at the gutter slowly and sits. That means proper slope on the gutter itself matters more here than it does on a steep roof where momentum does some of the work.

Ice

Freeze-thaw

Snow melts off a warm roof and refreezes at the cold eave. Gutters do not cause ice dams, but they make the damage worse when full or improperly sloped. The real fix is ventilation and insulation, and we will say so rather than selling you gutters.

Gutter Services in Fitchburg, WI

New seamless systems, guards, drainage, and the repairs that are worth doing versus the ones that aren’t.

Seamless gutter installation

Formed on site to the exact run length. No seams means no seam leaks.

Addition roof drainage

Getting upper-roof discharge into a gutter or diverter instead of onto the roof below.

Kickout flashing

The small piece that keeps water out of your wall. Missing on a lot of Fitchburg additions.

6-inch systems

Where roof area or valley discharge calls for it. Not necessary on every home and we will say so.

Foundation drainage

Extensions and underground drains to get water away from the house.

Repair & Resloping

On shallow-pitch roofs, gutter slope matters more. Often a reslope rather than a replacement.

I'm extremely impressed with the Exteriors company and their work. We had a strange door/lock issue, called MANY companies and the Exteriors Company was the only company willing to come and look at our door. They called me right back when I left a message, were on time for the appointment and did a wonderful job in fixing the problem. Tony and Andrew are the best! In addition to fixing the problem, they were extremely kind people, too. We need more of this in our world now. We are extremely grateful to have a working door again. Thank you! We will be using your company again and tell all of our friends about your services.

The Exteriors Company deserves 6 out of 5 ⭐ I cannot give them enough praise. I'll summarize here in case you don't want to read a lengthy review. The highlights were communication, quality of work, price, and customer service. I cannot wait to work with The Exteriors Company again. The Exteriors Company could teach a master class on contractor/customer interactions. If you need exterior work done, call The Exteriors Company! FOR REAL. LENGTHY REVIEW STARTS HERE: It took over a year and a half and meeting with 15 roofing companies to finally find the right company for my job: The Exteriors Company. My house has a modern/Frank Lloyd Wright kinda vibe - lots of different roof sections and pitches. A majority of the first 15 contractors that bid on my roof repair wanted to sell me a new roof. The problem with my roof was a design flaw and a new roof would have eventually led to more water in my house. This was confirmed by an architect. If you look at the before and after photo, you can see how ridiculous the design was. We had water coming into our house anytime it rained and when the snow melted. It was awful. We were lucky enough to have Ryan (the owner of The Exteriors Company) come look at our roof. The first thing he said after climbing on to the roof was, "You need to redo this whole area," confirming what we already knew. That was the first clue that we found a good roofing contractor. After talking in person and over email with Ryan and getting the contract for the project, we knew we found the right company. Ryan was so communicative. He reached out regularly through the repair process. We had four different teams (framing, roofing, siding and gutters) work on our repair. We were notified in advance when to expect each team. Then each team project manager reached out via text a day or two before and the day of their work. Each team was on time and did beautiful work. They were also tidy and I felt like they respected our home and property. Shout out to Taylor Paar and Scott Mack (roofing project manager and siding manager). Both these fellows came to meet with me and my husband to review the work that was done and to make sure everything was done to our liking. And to make sure we didn't have any concerns or questions. The entire experience from start to finish was incredible. The Exteriors Company very obviously cares deeply about the quality of their work and customer satisfaction. If I could give more than five stars, I would gladly do that. I wish more contractors/vendors followed the playbook that The Exteriors Company has perfected. JOB ???????? WELL ???????? DONE ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Fitchburg Siding Questions

Answered by Experts

Yes, and it is one of the more common things we find in Fitchburg. Concentrated discharge from an upper roof strips granules off the lower roof and can knock years off its life. The fix is usually a gutter or a diverter on the upper roof, which is inexpensive relative to replacing the lower roof early.

It is a small bent piece of metal where a roof edge terminates against a wall, and its job is to kick water into the gutter rather than behind the siding. A lot of additions were built without it. If you have a persistent stain or soft spot on a wall below a roof edge, missing kickout flashing is the first thing to check.

Slope. On a shallow-pitch Fitchburg roof water arrives at the gutter with very little momentum, so the gutter’s own pitch has to do all the work. If it was hung level or back-pitched, water sits. Resloping usually costs a fraction of replacement and we check that before quoting new gutters.

On most Fitchburg homes, no. Six-inch matters where a valley concentrates a large roof area into a short run. On a standard ranch roofline, correctly sloped 5-inch with an adequate downspout is genuinely fine and we will tell you so.

No, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling. Ice dams come from heat escaping into the attic, melting snow that refreezes at the cold eave. Gutters make the resulting damage worse when they are full. The real fix is ventilation and insulation, which we also do.
