Emergency Roof Repair in Cottage Grove

If water is coming in right now, call. One Cottage Grove note worth knowing before you dial: if the damage is to a shop, a barn or a detached garage rather than the house, plenty of roofing companies will not come at all. Metal panel is different work and most residential crews do not carry the parts.

Local conditions

What a Cottage Grove emergency looks like

Four situations, and two of them involve a building that is not the house.

Panel lift

Metal roofs in wind

Exposed-fastener panel fails at the fasteners first. A gust gets under an edge where washers have degraded and peels a run of panel back like a lid. It is dramatic, it exposes a large area at once, and it needs securing the same day.

Tree on the garage

Common on acreage

Mature trees near outbuildings are the norm on Town properties. A limb through a garage or shop roof needs a structural look before anyone works on it, and on a pole structure that is a different assessment than on a stick-framed house.

The house

Standard failures

Missing shingles, lifted courses, failed pipe boots and flashing pulled loose at a chimney. Same as anywhere, tarped the way you would expect.

Access after dark

Practical reality

Long gravel drives, no yard lighting and outbuildings set well back from the road. It affects how fast we can actually work once we arrive, and it is worth mentioning when you call so we bring the right lighting.

I'm extremely impressed with the Exteriors company and their work. We had a strange door/lock issue, called MANY companies and the Exteriors Company was the only company willing to come and look at our door. They called me right back when I left a message, were on time for the appointment and did a wonderful job in fixing the problem. Tony and Andrew are the best! In addition to fixing the problem, they were extremely kind people, too. We need more of this in our world now. We are extremely grateful to have a working door again. Thank you! We will be using your company again and tell all of our friends about your services.

The Exteriors Company deserves 6 out of 5 ⭐ I cannot give them enough praise. I'll summarize here in case you don't want to read a lengthy review. The highlights were communication, quality of work, price, and customer service. I cannot wait to work with The Exteriors Company again. The Exteriors Company could teach a master class on contractor/customer interactions. If you need exterior work done, call The Exteriors Company! FOR REAL. LENGTHY REVIEW STARTS HERE: It took over a year and a half and meeting with 15 roofing companies to finally find the right company for my job: The Exteriors Company. My house has a modern/Frank Lloyd Wright kinda vibe - lots of different roof sections and pitches. A majority of the first 15 contractors that bid on my roof repair wanted to sell me a new roof. The problem with my roof was a design flaw and a new roof would have eventually led to more water in my house. This was confirmed by an architect. If you look at the before and after photo, you can see how ridiculous the design was. We had water coming into our house anytime it rained and when the snow melted. It was awful. We were lucky enough to have Ryan (the owner of The Exteriors Company) come look at our roof. The first thing he said after climbing on to the roof was, "You need to redo this whole area," confirming what we already knew. That was the first clue that we found a good roofing contractor. After talking in person and over email with Ryan and getting the contract for the project, we knew we found the right company. Ryan was so communicative. He reached out regularly through the repair process. We had four different teams (framing, roofing, siding and gutters) work on our repair. We were notified in advance when to expect each team. Then each team project manager reached out via text a day or two before and the day of their work. Each team was on time and did beautiful work. They were also tidy and I felt like they respected our home and property. Shout out to Taylor Paar and Scott Mack (roofing project manager and siding manager). Both these fellows came to meet with me and my husband to review the work that was done and to make sure everything was done to our liking. And to make sure we didn't have any concerns or questions. The entire experience from start to finish was incredible. The Exteriors Company very obviously cares deeply about the quality of their work and customer satisfaction. If I could give more than five stars, I would gladly do that. I wish more contractors/vendors followed the playbook that The Exteriors Company has perfected. JOB ???????? WELL ???????? DONE ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Cottage Grove Exterior Emergency Questions

Answered by Experts

Yes, and it is worth asking whoever else you call, because a lot of residential roofing companies will not. Metal panel work needs different fasteners, different closures and crews who have done it. If your emergency is an outbuilding, say so when you call so we bring the right material.

We secure it same-day so it stops moving and stops taking more panel with it, then assess whether the run can be refastened or needs replacing. Exposed-fastener panel usually fails at the fasteners rather than the steel, so a peeled section frequently goes back down with oversized screws and new washers.

A structural assessment before anyone gets on it. On a pole building the load path is different from a stick-framed house, and a limb through the roof may have affected more than the panel. We do not put weight on a structure we have not looked at.

Usually, under the other-structures portion of your homeowners policy, if the damage came from a covered event. Photograph it before anything is covered and keep the receipt for the mitigation work.

Same-day for active water entry, usually within a few hours. After a major storm the queue is longer because everyone calls at once, and we triage by water entry rather than call order. If your drive is long or unlit, mention it — it changes what we load.

No. A tarp buys you weeks, not months. We schedule the permanent repair at the same visit so you are not calling back when the next system comes through.
