Verona Hail & Storm Damage Repair

Verona hail damage repair has one advantage over most towns and one trap. The advantage: because whole streets are identical, if your neighbor’s claim was approved yours is very likely valid too. The trap: that same fact brings out-of-state crews here in numbers after every storm.

Local conditions

Storm damage in a cohort neighborhood

Four things are true about hail in Verona that are not true in a town with mixed housing stock.

Your neighbor is evidence

Same roof, same age

If the house next door was built the same year with the same shingle and their claim was approved, you almost certainly have comparable damage. Homeowners talk themselves out of calling because their roof looks fine — and so did the approved one.

Hail

Bruising

Granules knocked loose, the mat bruised underneath. It does not leak and you cannot see it from the driveway. On an aging three-tab roof it accelerates a failure that was already coming, which is exactly why it is worth claiming rather than absorbing.

The knock

Out-of-state crews

Verona’s uniform subdivisions are efficient to canvass, so after a hail event they get worked hard. Some of those crews will not be in Wisconsin next year to honor a warranty. Ask where the company’s shop is and whether they will still be there in five years.

Age matters to adjusters

Depreciation

On a 22-year-old roof, an insurer may apply significant depreciation and the recoverable amount depends on whether you carry replacement cost or actual cash value. Know which policy you have before you file — it changes the math completely.

How we handle a Verona storm claim

Emergency response first, then a documented claim and a proper repair — across every exterior trade.

Emergency Tarping & Board-Up

Same-day. Stops water entry before the claim process begins.

Free Documented Inspection

Test squares marked and photographed the way an adjuster does, so the report holds up.

We meet your adjuster

On the roof, with our documentation. This is where most claims are won or lost.

Supplement handling

When the initial scope comes in short of what the repair actually requires, we file for it.

Neighborhood inspections

When a street gets hit we will look at several homes on the same visit. Same storm, same roofs, same evidence.

Straight answers

If we do not think you have a claim, we will tell you. That is a shorter conversation than a denied one.

What to do in the first 48 hours

The order matters, and the most common mistake is signing something on the doorstep.

1. Document everything

Photos, date

2. Ask your neighbors

Was theirs approved?

3. Get an inspection

Before you file

4. Check your policy

RCV or ACV?

5. Do not sign on the doorstep

Take it away to read

6. You choose the contractor

Approved replacement, ACV policy

You pay

Deductible + depreciation

Replacement cost value pays what it costs to replace today. Actual cash value pays the depreciated value, which on a 20-year-old roof can be a large gap you cover yourself. Check your declarations page before you file. Be cautious of any contractor offering to cover your deductible — in Wisconsin that creates legal exposure for you as well as them.

I'm extremely impressed with the Exteriors company and their work. We had a strange door/lock issue, called MANY companies and the Exteriors Company was the only company willing to come and look at our door. They called me right back when I left a message, were on time for the appointment and did a wonderful job in fixing the problem. Tony and Andrew are the best! In addition to fixing the problem, they were extremely kind people, too. We need more of this in our world now. We are extremely grateful to have a working door again. Thank you! We will be using your company again and tell all of our friends about your services.

The Exteriors Company deserves 6 out of 5 ⭐ I cannot give them enough praise. I'll summarize here in case you don't want to read a lengthy review. The highlights were communication, quality of work, price, and customer service. I cannot wait to work with The Exteriors Company again. The Exteriors Company could teach a master class on contractor/customer interactions. If you need exterior work done, call The Exteriors Company! FOR REAL. LENGTHY REVIEW STARTS HERE: It took over a year and a half and meeting with 15 roofing companies to finally find the right company for my job: The Exteriors Company. My house has a modern/Frank Lloyd Wright kinda vibe - lots of different roof sections and pitches. A majority of the first 15 contractors that bid on my roof repair wanted to sell me a new roof. The problem with my roof was a design flaw and a new roof would have eventually led to more water in my house. This was confirmed by an architect. If you look at the before and after photo, you can see how ridiculous the design was. We had water coming into our house anytime it rained and when the snow melted. It was awful. We were lucky enough to have Ryan (the owner of The Exteriors Company) come look at our roof. The first thing he said after climbing on to the roof was, "You need to redo this whole area," confirming what we already knew. That was the first clue that we found a good roofing contractor. After talking in person and over email with Ryan and getting the contract for the project, we knew we found the right company. Ryan was so communicative. He reached out regularly through the repair process. We had four different teams (framing, roofing, siding and gutters) work on our repair. We were notified in advance when to expect each team. Then each team project manager reached out via text a day or two before and the day of their work. Each team was on time and did beautiful work. They were also tidy and I felt like they respected our home and property. Shout out to Taylor Paar and Scott Mack (roofing project manager and siding manager). Both these fellows came to meet with me and my husband to review the work that was done and to make sure everything was done to our liking. And to make sure we didn't have any concerns or questions. The entire experience from start to finish was incredible. The Exteriors Company very obviously cares deeply about the quality of their work and customer satisfaction. If I could give more than five stars, I would gladly do that. I wish more contractors/vendors followed the playbook that The Exteriors Company has perfected. JOB ???????? WELL ???????? DONE ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Verona Storm damage questions

Answered by Experts

It is strong evidence, not a guarantee. If your homes were built the same year with the same shingle and took the same storm, the damage is usually comparable. Approval still depends on your carrier, your adjuster and your policy. It is absolutely worth an inspection.

Not on the doorstep. Verona’s uniform subdivisions get canvassed heavily after hail, including by crews from out of state who will not be here to honor a warranty. Get the inspection, get it documented, and take any contract away to read. Anyone who needs a signature tonight is telling you something.

It depends on your policy type more than the roof’s age. A replacement cost policy pays what replacement costs today, minus your deductible. An actual cash value policy pays the depreciated value, and on a two-decade-old roof that gap can be substantial. Check your declarations page before you file.

It depends on your policy, and many carriers set a window of roughly one year from the date of loss. The clock runs from the storm date, not from when you noticed the damage, which is why documenting early matters even when nothing is leaking.

No. You choose who works on your home. Insurers can suggest a preferred vendor, but the decision is yours, and a preferred vendor’s obligation runs partly to the carrier that sends them work.

Hail rarely hits only the roof. If your roof claim was approved, the siding, gutters and screens on the same elevation are worth inspecting before the claim closes — reopening it afterward is much harder.
