The builder shortcut
Production builders hang gutters at wider spacing than we would, because it passes inspection and costs less. Twenty years of ice and water load later, the run sags between hangers and stops draining. Rehanging at proper spacing often costs far less than replacement, and we check that first.
The real bottleneck
Builder-spec 2×3 downspouts are undersized for most Verona roof areas. The gutter is rarely the constraint — the downspout is. Going to 3×4 frequently solves an overflow without touching the gutter itself.
Where it becomes expensive
Water dumped at the foundation is how a gutter problem becomes a basement problem, and tight subdivision lots leave little room to move it. Extensions and grading get checked as part of every estimate here, because they are cheap now and not cheap later.
Freeze-thaw
Snow melts off a warm roof and refreezes at the cold eave. Gutters do not cause ice dams, but they make the damage worse when they are full or sagging. The real fix is ventilation and insulation, and we will say so rather than selling you gutters.

Almost always the downspout rather than the gutter. Builder-spec 2×3 downspouts are undersized for most Verona roof areas, so the gutter fills faster than it can drain at that point. Upsizing to 3×4 usually fixes it without replacing anything else.
On most Verona homes, no. Six-inch matters where a valley concentrates a large roof area into a short run, or on unusually large roofs. On a standard subdivision roofline, correctly hung 5-inch with a 3×4 downspout is genuinely adequate and we will tell you so rather than upselling.
