Fitchburg hail damage repair has a blind spot worth knowing about. Adjusters are trained to read hail on asphalt shingles, and they are good at it. On the low-slope membrane over your porch or addition, hail leaves a completely different signature — and it routinely does not make it into the first scope.
Four things, and three of them are on the parts of the roof nobody looks at.
Different evidence
Hail on EPDM does not knock granules loose because there are none. It fractures the membrane or bruises the insulation underneath, and it often shows as a soft spot rather than a mark. If nobody walked your low-slope sections, they were not inspected.
Out of sight
Porch, sunroom and addition roofs are frequently lower and set back, so they are not visible from the driveway or from a drone pass at the usual angle. They take the same hail as the main field and get scoped least often.
Bruising
On the steep field it is the familiar story: granules knocked loose, mat bruised underneath, invisible from the ground, does not leak right away. Test squares have to be marked and photographed properly or it is invisible to the claim.
The delayed failure
A membrane that took hail may not leak for a year. Then it ponds, the fractured spot holds water, and it fails in a way that looks like age rather than storm damage — after the claim window has closed.
Emergency response first, then a documented claim and a proper repair — across every exterior trade.
Steep field and every low-slope section. We walk the porch and addition roofs, not just the parts visible from the drive.
Photographed and mapped, because hail on EPDM does not look like hail on shingles and needs explaining to an adjuster.
On the roof, with our documentation. This is where the low-slope sections get into the scope or do not.
When the first estimate covers the shingle field and skips the addition, we file for the difference.
Seven miles out. Membrane and steep systems both.
If we do not think you have a claim, we will tell you. That is a shorter conversation than a denied one.
Your deductible is what you owe on an approved claim. Be cautious with any contractor offering to waive, cover or rebate it — in Wisconsin that arrangement creates real legal exposure for the homeowner as well as the contractor.

I'm extremely impressed with the Exteriors company and their work. We had a strange door/lock issue, called MANY companies and the Exteriors Company was the only company willing to come and look at our door. They called me right back when I left a message, were on time for the appointment and did a wonderful job in fixing the problem. Tony and Andrew are the best! In addition to fixing the problem, they were extremely kind people, too. We need more of this in our world now. We are extremely grateful to have a working door again. Thank you! We will be using your company again and tell all of our friends about your services.![]()

The Exteriors Company deserves 6 out of 5 ⭐ I cannot give them enough praise. I'll summarize here in case you don't want to read a lengthy review. The highlights were communication, quality of work, price, and customer service. I cannot wait to work with The Exteriors Company again. The Exteriors Company could teach a master class on contractor/customer interactions. If you need exterior work done, call The Exteriors Company! FOR REAL. LENGTHY REVIEW STARTS HERE: It took over a year and a half and meeting with 15 roofing companies to finally find the right company for my job: The Exteriors Company. My house has a modern/Frank Lloyd Wright kinda vibe - lots of different roof sections and pitches. A majority of the first 15 contractors that bid on my roof repair wanted to sell me a new roof. The problem with my roof was a design flaw and a new roof would have eventually led to more water in my house. This was confirmed by an architect. If you look at the before and after photo, you can see how ridiculous the design was. We had water coming into our house anytime it rained and when the snow melted. It was awful. We were lucky enough to have Ryan (the owner of The Exteriors Company) come look at our roof. The first thing he said after climbing on to the roof was, "You need to redo this whole area," confirming what we already knew. That was the first clue that we found a good roofing contractor. After talking in person and over email with Ryan and getting the contract for the project, we knew we found the right company. Ryan was so communicative. He reached out regularly through the repair process. We had four different teams (framing, roofing, siding and gutters) work on our repair. We were notified in advance when to expect each team. Then each team project manager reached out via text a day or two before and the day of their work. Each team was on time and did beautiful work. They were also tidy and I felt like they respected our home and property. Shout out to Taylor Paar and Scott Mack (roofing project manager and siding manager). Both these fellows came to meet with me and my husband to review the work that was done and to make sure everything was done to our liking. And to make sure we didn't have any concerns or questions. The entire experience from start to finish was incredible. The Exteriors Company very obviously cares deeply about the quality of their work and customer satisfaction. If I could give more than five stars, I would gladly do that. I wish more contractors/vendors followed the playbook that The Exteriors Company has perfected. JOB ???????? WELL ???????? DONE ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????![]()

Frequently it is not. Low-slope and addition roofs take the same storm as the main field, and they are the sections most often left out of a first scope because nobody walked them. If the damage is there and it is documented, that is exactly what a supplement is for.
It looks nothing like hail on shingles. There are no granules to knock loose, so what you get is fracturing of the membrane or bruising of the insulation underneath, often showing as a soft spot underfoot rather than a visible mark. It needs someone to walk it and map it, and it needs photographing in a way an adjuster can read.
Possibly, and this is the trap. A hail-damaged membrane can take a year or more to fail, and when it does the water pools at the fractured spot and it looks like age rather than storm damage. By then the claim window has usually closed. Getting it documented now costs nothing.
It depends on your policy, and many carriers set a window of roughly one year from the date of loss. The clock runs from the storm date, not from when you noticed the damage.
No. You choose who works on your home. Insurers can suggest a preferred vendor, but the decision is yours, and a preferred vendor’s obligation runs partly to the carrier that sends them work.
Hail rarely hits only the roof. If your roof claim was approved, the siding, gutters and screens on the same elevation are worth inspecting before the claim closes — reopening it afterward is much harder.
