The Exteriors Company is a licensed gutter contractor based in Madison, forming seamless aluminum gutters on site and installing oversized 6-inch systems and guards across Madison and Dane County. Seamless means one continuous run per side with no mid-span joints to leak — the joints are where sectional gutters fail first.

New seamless systems, guards, drainage, and the repairs that are worth doing versus the ones that aren’t.
Formed on site in one continuous run per side. 5-inch standard and 6-inch oversized, in a full color range to match trim or siding.
40% more capacity and 3×4 downspouts that shrug off the debris and snowmelt that clog standard 5-inch. Our default recommendation on most Dane County roofs.
Micro-mesh and reverse-curve systems that keep leaves and pine needles out. We’ll tell you honestly which homes need them and which don’t.
Rerouting water away from the foundation, underground extensions, and correcting the downspouts that dump against the house.
Re-pitching, rehanging, sealing end caps and seams. When a repair makes sense we’ll do it rather than pushing a full replacement.
A stopgap for chronic ice dam spots — but we’ll always point at the roof fix first.
Prices are installed, per linear foot, including hangers and standard downspouts. Guards, underground drainage, and specialty colors price separately.
Not the gutter
Gutters pulling away, icicles, water in the soffit — in a Wisconsin winter these are almost always ice dams, and no gutter fixes an ice dam. The heat leaking into your attic melts roof snow that refreezes at the eave. The fix is ventilation and insulation, which is roofing work. We’d rather send you to the right fix than sell you gutters that won’t solve it.
Most homes are a one-day job.
We measure the runs, check fascia condition, size the system to your roof, and flag any ice dam signs.
Line-item quote naming size, color, downspout count, hanger spacing, and any guards.
Seamless runs formed on site to exact length, then hung on hidden hangers with correct pitch to the downspouts.
Downspouts routed away from the foundation, everything tested with water, and the site cleaned up.

We had a strange door/lock issue, called MANY companies and the Exteriors Company was the only company willing to come and look at our door. They called me right back when I left a message, were on time for the appointment and did a wonderful job in fixing the problem. Tony and Andrew are the best! In addition to fixing the problem, they were extremely kind people, too. We need more of this in our world now. We are extremely grateful to have a working door again. Thank you! I'll summarize here in case you don't want to read a lengthy review. The highlights were communication, quality of work, price, and customer service. I cannot wait to work with The Exteriors Company again. The Exteriors Company could teach a master class on contractor/customer interactions. If you need exterior work done, call The Exteriors Company! FOR REAL. LENGTHY REVIEW STARTS HERE: It took over a year and a half and meeting with 15 roofing companies to finally find the right company for my job: The Exteriors Company. My house has a modern/Frank Lloyd Wright kinda vibe - lots of different roof sections and pitches. A majority of the first 15 contractors that bid on my roof repair wanted to sell me a new roof. The problem with my roof was a design flaw and a new roof would have eventually led to more water in my house. This was confirmed by an architect. If you look at the before and after photo, you can see how ridiculous the design was. We had water coming into our house anytime it rained and when the snow melted. It was awful. We were lucky enough to have Ryan (the owner of The Exteriors Company) come look at our roof. The first thing he said after climbing on to the roof was, "You need to redo this whole area," confirming what we already knew. That was the first clue that we found a good roofing contractor. After talking in person and over email with Ryan and getting the contract for the project, we knew we found the right company. Ryan was so communicative. He reached out regularly through the repair process. We had four different teams (framing, roofing, siding and gutters) work on our repair. We were notified in advance when to expect each team. Then each team project manager reached out via text a day or two before and the day of their work. Each team was on time and did beautiful work. They were also tidy and I felt like they respected our home and property. Shout out to Taylor Paar and Scott Mack (roofing project manager and siding manager). Both these fellows came to meet with me and my husband to review the work that was done and to make sure everything was done to our liking. And to make sure we didn't have any concerns or questions. The entire experience from start to finish was incredible. The Exteriors Company very obviously cares deeply about the quality of their work and customer satisfaction. If I could give more than five stars, I would gladly do that. I wish more contractors/vendors followed the playbook that The Exteriors Company has perfected. JOB ???????? WELL ???????? DONE ???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? BNPRESERVETrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Don W. Called ahead and Showed up when he said he would. The roof and small siding repair was done in a timely manner. Don was Very easy to talk to and he understood what needed to be fixed. And completed the job as promised.

Seamless aluminum runs $8 to $14 per linear foot installed for standard 5-inch, and $12 to $20 for oversized 6-inch. Most homes need 150 to 250 linear feet, so a typical project lands between $1,400 and $4,500 before guards. Gutter guards add $8 to $30 per linear foot depending on the system, and steel or copper costs well above aluminum.
Six-inch gutters hold about 40% more water and use larger 3×4 downspouts that clog far less than the 2×3 on standard 5-inch. In Dane County, where heavy winter snowmelt and intense summer downpours both overwhelm undersized gutters, 6-inch is worth the modest upcharge on most homes — and it’s close to essential on large or steep roof planes that dump a lot of water fast.
No, and it’s a costly misunderstanding. Ice dams form because heat escaping into the attic melts roof snow that refreezes at the cold eave. Guards keep leaves out but do nothing about the heat loss driving the dam — some can even make ice worse by giving it a surface to build on. The real fix is attic ventilation and insulation, which is roofing work, not a gutter product.
Almost always ice. Water backs up behind an ice dam, freezes in the gutter, and the sheer weight tears it loose from the fascia. The gutter is the victim, not the cause. Rehanging it every spring just treats the symptom — correcting the roof ventilation and insulation that create the ice dam is the only thing that actually stops it. We’ll diagnose which you’re dealing with before quoting anything.
Yes, for most homes. Sectional gutters have joints every ten feet, and joints are where gutters leak, clog, and separate first. Seamless gutters are formed on site in one continuous run per side, so the only seams are at the corners and downspout outlets. Fewer failure points, less maintenance, and a cleaner look.
Depends on your lot. On a property with mature oaks, maples, or pines dropping debris onto the roof, guards genuinely save you from twice-a-year ladder work and keep water flowing. On an open lot with few trees, they’re often an unnecessary expense. We’ll tell you honestly which situation you’re in rather than adding them to every quote.
Frequently, yes. Gutters that overflow or downspouts that discharge right at the foundation dump concentrated water against the wall, where it works down to the footing and into the basement. It’s one of the most common and most fixable causes of a wet basement in older Madison homes. Correct sizing plus routing the discharge well away from the house solves a lot of moisture problems.
