Siding is where Evansville hail claims get decided. The roof is straightforward — damage is damage. Siding brings in a question most homeowners have never heard of until they are in the middle of it: if only one elevation was damaged and the replacement will not match the other three, what is your insurer actually obliged to do?
Four things that decide whether you get one elevation or a house that looks right.
Fade is real
Vinyl and painted surfaces fade by exposure. Twenty years of sun on three elevations means new panels in the identical colour code read differently — not subtly, obviously, and permanently. This is a documented physical fact rather than an aesthetic preference.
The stronger argument
Siding profiles get discontinued. If the exact product is no longer manufactured, a matching repair is not merely difficult, it is impossible, and that is a much simpler case to make than a fade argument. Establishing what your siding actually is matters early.
It varies
Some policies address matching directly, some are silent, and practice varies by carrier. It is worth reading before you accept a single-elevation scope, and worth raising while the claim is open rather than after.
For what goes back on
Steel is the most hail-resistant material we install, then fiber cement, then engineered wood, then vinyl. If this has happened once it can happen again, and the material decision is worth making deliberately rather than replacing like for like by default.
Full re-sides, partial replacement, and the repair work that’s usually hiding behind the old siding.
Photographed by elevation, with product identification so the matching question can actually be argued.
Establishing what your siding is and whether it is still manufactured. This frequently decides the scope.
The most impact-resistant material we install. Worth pricing if hail brought you here.
Will not crack in freeze-thaw, holds colour, and far better impact resistance than vinyl.
Real wood texture with much better impact resistance than vinyl.
Lower cost with an insulation backer that adds R-value and stiffens the panel.
If this is an insurance claim, the number that matters is what your policy covers rather than the retail range. Get the matching question settled before you start comparing quotes.

I'm extremely impressed with the Exteriors company and their work. We had a strange door/lock issue, called MANY companies and the Exteriors Company was the only company willing to come and look at our door. They called me right back when I left a message, were on time for the appointment and did a wonderful job in fixing the problem. Tony and Andrew are the best! In addition to fixing the problem, they were extremely kind people, too. We need more of this in our world now. We are extremely grateful to have a working door again. Thank you! We will be using your company again and tell all of our friends about your services.![]()

The Exteriors Company deserves 6 out of 5 ⭐ I cannot give them enough praise. I'll summarize here in case you don't want to read a lengthy review. The highlights were communication, quality of work, price, and customer service. I cannot wait to work with The Exteriors Company again. The Exteriors Company could teach a master class on contractor/customer interactions. If you need exterior work done, call The Exteriors Company! FOR REAL. LENGTHY REVIEW STARTS HERE: It took over a year and a half and meeting with 15 roofing companies to finally find the right company for my job: The Exteriors Company. My house has a modern/Frank Lloyd Wright kinda vibe - lots of different roof sections and pitches. A majority of the first 15 contractors that bid on my roof repair wanted to sell me a new roof. The problem with my roof was a design flaw and a new roof would have eventually led to more water in my house. This was confirmed by an architect. If you look at the before and after photo, you can see how ridiculous the design was. We had water coming into our house anytime it rained and when the snow melted. It was awful. We were lucky enough to have Ryan (the owner of The Exteriors Company) come look at our roof. The first thing he said after climbing on to the roof was, "You need to redo this whole area," confirming what we already knew. That was the first clue that we found a good roofing contractor. After talking in person and over email with Ryan and getting the contract for the project, we knew we found the right company. Ryan was so communicative. He reached out regularly through the repair process. We had four different teams (framing, roofing, siding and gutters) work on our repair. We were notified in advance when to expect each team. Then each team project manager reached out via text a day or two before and the day of their work. Each team was on time and did beautiful work. They were also tidy and I felt like they respected our home and property. Shout out to Taylor Paar and Scott Mack (roofing project manager and siding manager). Both these fellows came to meet with me and my husband to review the work that was done and to make sure everything was done to our liking. And to make sure we didn't have any concerns or questions. The entire experience from start to finish was incredible. The Exteriors Company very obviously cares deeply about the quality of their work and customer satisfaction. If I could give more than five stars, I would gladly do that. I wish more contractors/vendors followed the playbook that The Exteriors Company has perfected. JOB ???????? WELL ???????? DONE ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????![]()

Not necessarily, and it is worth pushing on. Two arguments matter: whether your exact product is still manufactured, and how much the undamaged elevations have faded. If the profile has been discontinued, a matching repair is impossible rather than merely awkward, and that is a much simpler case. Raise it while the claim is open.
More than people expect and unevenly, because the south and west elevations take far more sun than the north. After fifteen or twenty years, new panels in the identical colour code will read as obviously different. This is not an opinion — it is a documentable physical fact, and documenting it is part of what we do on the inspection.
Steel, then fiber cement, then engineered wood, then vinyl. If hail brought you here once it can bring you here again, and the material choice is worth making deliberately rather than defaulting to like-for-like. We will show you the cost difference honestly.
Sometimes there is a stamp on the back of a panel, sometimes the profile itself identifies the manufacturer, and sometimes it takes pulling one piece. We do this as part of the inspection, because whether the product is still made frequently determines the entire scope of your claim.
Vinyl becomes brittle in deep cold and we avoid installing it below roughly 40 degrees. Fiber cement and steel are less affected. We schedule around it rather than forcing a job that will look wrong in spring.
