Evansville Roofing Company for Replacement, Repair & Hail Restoration

We are a roofing company working in Evansville with 85 completed jobs across 36 addresses here. Most of those started as a roof and became more, because when the roof needs doing after a storm the siding and gutters usually do too — and the order you do them in matters more than most homeowners are told.

Local conditions

Why the roof goes first

On a whole-exterior project the sequence is not arbitrary. Four reasons the roof leads.

Debris

It falls downward

Tear-off drops shingle, nails and granule onto everything below it. Doing siding first means covering brand new siding in debris and hoping nothing scratches it. Roof first is not a preference, it is basic sequencing.

Fascia and drip edge

Where roof meets gutter

The drip edge, fascia and the top course of siding all meet at the eave. That junction is detailed once, by whoever is there last — which means the roofer and the gutter crew need to be the same project, not two calls three months apart.

The dry-in

Protecting the house

Until the roof is sound, everything else is finishing work on a building that is still taking water. If the roof is compromised there is no sensible argument for doing anything else first.

Insurance sequencing

Scope before schedule

On a claim the whole scope should be approved before any of it starts. Starting the roof while the siding is still under discussion weakens your position, because the visible evidence is now gone. Get the documentation complete first, then build.

Roofing services in Evansville, WI

Residential and commercial, across Madison, Dane County, & Southern Wisconsin.

Roof Replacement

Full tear-off to the deck, decking inspected sheet by sheet. Most installs finish in a single day.

Hail & storm restoration

Documented for your insurer as part of a whole-house inspection rather than a roof-only one.

Roof repair

Leaks, failed pipe boots, missing shingles, flashing pulled loose at a chimney.

Ice dam & ventilation

Balanced intake and exhaust. The fix for ice damming is almost never more shingles.

Metal roofing

26-gauge standing seam with concealed fasteners. Sheds snow instead of holding it.

Emergency tarping

We are further out than most of our markets and we will give you a real time rather than a vague one.

2. Roof tear-off and install

Typically 1 day

3. Siding and trim

3–7 days

4. Windows if in scope

I'm extremely impressed with the Exteriors company and their work. We had a strange door/lock issue, called MANY companies and the Exteriors Company was the only company willing to come and look at our door. They called me right back when I left a message, were on time for the appointment and did a wonderful job in fixing the problem. Tony and Andrew are the best! In addition to fixing the problem, they were extremely kind people, too. We need more of this in our world now. We are extremely grateful to have a working door again. Thank you! We will be using your company again and tell all of our friends about your services.

The Exteriors Company deserves 6 out of 5 ⭐ I cannot give them enough praise. I'll summarize here in case you don't want to read a lengthy review. The highlights were communication, quality of work, price, and customer service. I cannot wait to work with The Exteriors Company again. The Exteriors Company could teach a master class on contractor/customer interactions. If you need exterior work done, call The Exteriors Company! FOR REAL. LENGTHY REVIEW STARTS HERE: It took over a year and a half and meeting with 15 roofing companies to finally find the right company for my job: The Exteriors Company. My house has a modern/Frank Lloyd Wright kinda vibe - lots of different roof sections and pitches. A majority of the first 15 contractors that bid on my roof repair wanted to sell me a new roof. The problem with my roof was a design flaw and a new roof would have eventually led to more water in my house. This was confirmed by an architect. If you look at the before and after photo, you can see how ridiculous the design was. We had water coming into our house anytime it rained and when the snow melted. It was awful. We were lucky enough to have Ryan (the owner of The Exteriors Company) come look at our roof. The first thing he said after climbing on to the roof was, "You need to redo this whole area," confirming what we already knew. That was the first clue that we found a good roofing contractor. After talking in person and over email with Ryan and getting the contract for the project, we knew we found the right company. Ryan was so communicative. He reached out regularly through the repair process. We had four different teams (framing, roofing, siding and gutters) work on our repair. We were notified in advance when to expect each team. Then each team project manager reached out via text a day or two before and the day of their work. Each team was on time and did beautiful work. They were also tidy and I felt like they respected our home and property. Shout out to Taylor Paar and Scott Mack (roofing project manager and siding manager). Both these fellows came to meet with me and my husband to review the work that was done and to make sure everything was done to our liking. And to make sure we didn't have any concerns or questions. The entire experience from start to finish was incredible. The Exteriors Company very obviously cares deeply about the quality of their work and customer satisfaction. If I could give more than five stars, I would gladly do that. I wish more contractors/vendors followed the playbook that The Exteriors Company has perfected. JOB ???????? WELL ???????? DONE ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Evansville Roofing Questions

Answered by Experts

Yes, and it is not a close call. Tear-off drops debris onto everything below it, so siding installed first gets covered in shingle and nails. The roof also has to be sound before anything else matters, since everything else is finishing work on a building that is still taking water.

After the full scope is documented and ideally approved, not before. Once the roof is off, the evidence for everything else is harder to establish. Getting the whole house inspected and scoped first is what protects the rest of the claim.

No. Our pricing is the same in Evansville as it is in Madison. What being further out actually affects is scheduling — we batch work in this area where we can, and we will be straight with you at the estimate about what that means for your dates rather than promising next week and delivering in three.

Roof is typically a day. Siding runs three to seven. Windows are usually a day. Gutters go last, after the fascia is sorted. A combined project on a typical Evansville home is one to two weeks of active work, scheduled so the house is never left open.

Wisconsin allows two layers and we generally will not do it. You cannot inspect the decking through a layover, the second layer runs hotter and fails early, and the tear-off you avoid today gets more expensive later.

Generally yes for roof replacement. Evansville is in Rock County rather than Dane, and the City of Evansville runs its own permit process. We pull it as part of the job.
